How to do it

  1. Lie on a flat bench holding a barbell over your chest with a narrow overhand grip.
  2. Bend your elbows slightly and keep that angle fixed.
  3. Lower the bar back over your head until you feel a deep stretch through your lats and ribs.
  4. Pull it back over your chest along the same arc.
  5. Keep your ribs pulled down. Arching your back to reach further just stretches your lower spine.
